Wednesdays at 3pm (Currently on break; will resume after Easter)
Our Lectionary Group gathers every Wednesday afternoon at 3pm to dive into the scripture readings that Pastor Cody will be preaching on for the coming Sunday. Sometimes these readings follow the Revised Common Lectionary, which is an ecumenical calendar of scripture passages assigned for each Sunday of the year, following the seasonal Church (or "Liturgical") Calendar. Other times, Pastor Cody preaches a sermon series that doesn't follow the Lectionary, but we will always look at the passages that will be read in worship on the following Sunday.
Each week, Pastor Cody leads us in discussion following a "discussion guide," sharing some insights into the background, context, and meaning(s) of the text. If there are passages that are particularly difficult to understand and apply, we will have an opportunity to dive into those questions and complexities.
There is no outside reading or preparation required, though the readings for the coming Sunday are printed in each week's worship bulletin as well as in our monthly calendar. Bring your favorite bible translation if you have one and your willingness to learn, grow, and engage.
